THE INN

Located at 118 High Street, originally built by Captain Donald “Dan” McAulay, whose parents immigrated from the Isle of Lewis, in Scotland. Dan, whose father drowned off the Fishing Islands when Dan was seven, became a successful mariner and owner of three work tugboats named after his three children. The McAulays hosted many social gatherings in their spacious elegant home, including meetings of The Sons of Scotland, who danced the Highland Fling. We’ve been caring on these fun traditions with many of the special events we host throughout our shoulder season, including our Dine’INN and Rock’INN events. The building has a plaque on it with ‘1896 Captain Dan McAulay, Mariner ’. We have learned that the building has had many personalities; the McAulay’s home, The Linton Inn & Steakhouse, The Linton Inn, Chantry House and The Southampton Inn. Clearly the Inn has transformed through generations.

All rooms/suites have an ensuite bathroom, small fridge, wine glasses, wine opener, smart TV, free WIFI and USB charging ports. Suites are differentiated by a bonus separate sitting area.

All stays include a wonderful hot breakfast prepared by our amazing Inn Keeper - Colleen Price, who has won Inn Keeper of the Year 2 years in a row !!

We spent 2021/2022 freshening up the Inn to make it welcoming for our guests and we opened our doors officially May 2022. 2022 and 2023 were amazing seasons. Your feedback has been amazing and we continue to learn, grow and have FUN. We have had so many returning guests and lots of new people who had just discovered us and the Southampton area. The most common sentiment was that people just love being able to park their car for days and never have to drive anywhere with the beach, dining and shopping all steps away. One guest even said “so many places say they are steps away from the beach or town .. but you REALLY ARE just steps away from everything!”

We have completely redone the landscaping and gardens and this past spring we put in a new patio area outside of room 4 and 5. There are so many places for our guests to enjoy their time, especially the side patio where we will be serving breakfast on nice days in the summer !

We also hosted many events (See events in our Blog) and are working on a bunch of exciting new experiences for our guests in 2024.
